Over 70% of the winter holidaymakers in Austria come to our mountains to ski. For these guests, good snow and piste conditions are the prerequisite. Artificial snow production is therefore essential for ensuring uninterrupted skiing.
The whole tourism industry profits from the investments made by the Austrian cable cars in snowmaking technology. In recent years, artificial snow production has gained in importance. Our winter sports guests require ideal snow and piste conditions.
In order to guarantee snow in the future, even on poor snow days, high-performance snowmaking technology is required. Modern equipment is energy efficient. In the 80s, 7 kw/h were used to produce 1 cubic meter of snow, today it is only 1 kw/h.
Targeted snowing has a positive effect on the environment, because it isolates the ground with a firm bed of snow, protects the ground from frost in spring and autumn and imbues the ground with moisture if there is low rainfall in springtime.
In addition, it protects the vegetation from machinery and other external influences (e.g. piste maintenance machinery, ski edges, etc.)
Artificially snowed pistes offer even, firm snow, which means that piste maintenance machinery can be used more economically. There are less uneven surfaces and therefore less chance of accidents.
