Austrian mountains have a long tradition as a winter sport destination and offer ideal conditions for skiers, boarders, kids and young people, families, beginners and senior citizens. Austria ranks among the front runners in Europe with 50 million skier days per year and offers over 20.000 hectares of slopes. Using modern snowmaking stations over 50% of Austrian pistes offer guaranteed, danger free skiing throughout the season.
A range of extra facilities, such as floodlight installations, timed sections, Funparks and child-friendly slopes provide a varied winter experience of the Austria mountains.
Services of the cable cars
The cable cars are the main service providers of the mountains. Transportation is their main services, but they are also responsible for a whole number of further services, such as safety and comfort, maintenance of the slopes, lighting, environmental protection, etc. The purchase of a ski pass does not only include the ascent and descent, but also a variety of additional services.
The Professional Association
The Professional Association represents the interests of approx. 260 Austrian cable car companies and supports their efforts to provide the best quality and satisfaction to guests. It plays a key role in the success of Austrian alpine tourism, and supports its members through a range of different activities.
The Marketing Forum
Founded in 1994 through the professional association of cableways, the marketing forum’s priority is to promote the positive image of our branch. A variety of projects co-operation initiatives are organized in the subject areas of economics/tourism, youth and winter sports, safety in winter sports, crisis management, environment and summer cableways.
